Boat to Busan

Spent the past week in Hiroshima and Fukuoka then took the ferry to Busan yesterday!

Hiroshima was a much quieter city with a slower pace of life. The peace museum about the atomic bombing was really powerful, I spent quite a few hours there reading all the stories from survivors and learning a lot more details than I knew before about what happened in Hiroshima. There was also a lot of information explaining the politics behind everything that happened and even technical details of the bombs themselves. The museum was extremely thorough and well put together, probably one of the best museums I've ever been to. The peace park surrounding it was really beautiful to walk around and enjoy as well.

Also, I met a number of people in Hiroshima, which was a nice surprise! I went to a CouchSurfing meetup my first day there even though I couldn't find a host while I was staying in the city, and it was great to see so many people come out and were from all over the world. Really cool hearing how they all ended up in Japan and their wide variety of travel stories and life experiences. I feel like CouchSurfers are such an interesting, diverse group of people where you can find so many who have had such unique and different lives that you don't get the chance to hear about that often. So it's always nice to learn about someone who took the path less traveled and discover new things from them. But aside from the meetup I also hungout with one of the only other people staying at my strangely deserted hostel, so it was nice to explore the city with someone for a bit! I couldn't stay too long though, had to leave to catch my boat soon. So I went to Fukuoka, a small port town where the ferry departs from. Pretty much just slept and ate for two days, killing time and using up the last of my cash before taking my boat to Busan!
